How to add a Gif to an Image
In this tutorial I will be showing you how to put a gif onto an image together to make one is like the image you see above. Although it is easy after some practice, this tutorial requires that you follow the steps closely until you are familiar with the steps to prevent any mistakes from taking place.
Step one:
Open up gimp and the image you want to use. Make any adjustments you want – crop, resize, colorize, etc. – then flatten it. This is the image I will be using for this tutorial.
Step Two:
Go to file and click “open as layers” to put your gif on top. Then, link all of the gif layers and position then however you want the gif on the canvas. This is the gif that I will be using.
Step three:
Click the eye on all of the gif layers except the first one, then click on the top layer and right click on it before clicking add “add layer mask.” A window will then open, to which you will click "White (full opacity)."
Click the eye on all of the gif layers except the first one, then click on the top layer and right click on it before clicking add “add layer mask.” A window will then open, to which you will click "White (full opacity)."
Step four:
Click on the layer mask to show the green ticks going around the gif. You will then need to blend the images together. (To learn how to do this, click here)
Step five:
Once you have blended, select the next gif layer and right click on it. Once you have done that, click on “add layer mask.” Then you can select the “selection” option which will put the same mask that you put on the top gif layer. Continue to do this until you have done this for all the gif layers.
Step six:
Next, bring your background layer all the way to the top until it is just under the first gif layer.
Step seven:
Duplicate the background layer until you have a copy to put under each gif layer.
Step eight:
Return to the top and right click on the gif layer. Select the “merge down” option to merge the gif layer with the background layer below it. Do this step with each gif layer. You should have something like this at the end:
